Kyoto hat eine lange Nord-S\u00fcd-Ausdehnung. 2019 umfasst die Pr\u00e4fektur Kyoto 15 St\u00e4dte, 10 Ortschaften und 1 Dorf. Darunter ist das Dorf Minami Yamashiro (ca. 2.300 Einwohner) im s\u00fcdlichsten Teil der Pr\u00e4fektur das einzige \"Dorf\" der Pr\u00e4fektur.
Das Gebiet ist ber\u00fchmt f\u00fcr seinen Uji-Tee, aber in der Nebensaison vom Sp\u00e4therbst bis zum Fr\u00fchlingsanfang werden Shiitake-Pilze angebaut, die etwa 70 % aller in der Pr\u00e4fektur produzierten Shiitake-Pilze ausmachen.
