The highlight of the tour! 1.4km-long rows of cherry trees
Seawari-Ttei is a levee named "National Park, Yodogawa River Park, Seawari-Ttei Area" located in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture.
Located at the confluence of the Uji River (Yodo River) and the Kizu River, it separates the two rivers, and approximately 250 Someiyoshino cherry trees are planted along its 1.4 km-long embankment.
Walking along the tree-lined avenue is like passing through a pink tunnel.
The path is not very wide, so you can take pictures of the petals up close. This row of trees was originally lined with pine trees, but they were replanted around 1965. The cherry trees, which are about 50 years old, have magnificent branches and each tree is majestic with countless blossoms.
The return trip is from the sidewalk under the embankment.
When you reach the top of the embankment, you will see that the embankment is surrounded by stair-like blocks and a stone marker that reads "(Osaka Bay) 36.0 km from the mouth of the river. For the return trip from here, take the footpath under the dike.
The eye level is different from the top of the embankment, and the view of the cherry blossoms flowing down from the top of the embankment is different from the top of the embankment.
Visitors can also enjoy the magnificent contrast of three colors: the green of the grass, the pink of the cherry blossoms, and the blue of the sky.
There is no end to the cherry blossoms, no matter how much you walk, so you can be sure to issue a warning against taking too many pictures.
Sakura deai-kan Observation Tower
The tourist information center "Sakura deai-kan" is located along the Miyuki-bashi Bridge, which is the starting point of the rows of cherry trees along the Shiowari-zutsumi. It has an observation tower, a corner for providing information on surrounding cities and towns, an event space, a store, etc. From the observation tower, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the rows of cherry trees from a height of 25 meters above the ground!
Shiowari-Tsutsumi Cherry Blossom Festival
This year's Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled from Saturday, March 26 to Tuesday, April 5. There will be stores selling fresh vegetables, gourmet foods, sweets, etc. on the riverbank, and a "Sakura deai cruise" will be available for visitors to view the cherry blossoms from a boat or a sightseeing boat. While the coexistence of cherry blossoms with Japanese gardens, temples, and shrines is a nice sight, why don't you come and see the magnificent panoramic view of cherry blossoms only available at the Shiowari-zutsumi?
