Ume experience specialty store Choya

Choya Kyoto, a specialty ume experience store, is located on Rokkaku Street, an eight-minute walk from Shijo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway.

Choya is a unique spot where you can experience making your own original plum wine. The warmth of the wooden interior is filled with the gentle aroma of plums.

In the hands-on program, you will be given a detailed explanation of the different types of plums and sugar, and you will select the ingredients of your choice. The process of creating your own unique plum wine is exciting.

You can also enjoy ume drinks made with ume syrup in the store. This is a popular experience that is difficult to reserve at the last minute, so please check the website as soon as you decide on a date to visit Kyoto!

Japanese Poetry Club

The soft colors and texture of Japanese paper are very attractive. You can try your hand at papermaking at the Wa-Shi Club's Abura-no-Koji main store. The fee is only 500 yen per person, which is quite reasonable!

The raw material used is kozo (paper mulberry), which is characterized by its thick and long fibers, and A4-size suketa is used to make washi, with the fibers evenly distributed. You can also draw letters or illustrations on the made washi in the color of your choice. Try making your own original washi paper.

Advance reservations are required for the experience, so do not forget to contact us.

Myotokuzan Kegonji Temple Suzumushiji Temple

Lastly, we introduce Myotokuzan Kegonji Suzumushiji Temple, a 10-minute walk from Matsuo Taisha Station on the Hankyu Arashiyama Line.

At Suzumo-ji Temple, you can experience "Seppo," a different kind of experience.

Seppo is the preaching of Buddhist teachings by a priest or abbot. Hearing all this, many people may feel that it is an intimidating experience.

However, the peaceful atmosphere at Suzumo-ji Temple's sermons, which incorporate laughter, is so popular that people line up to see the sermons. The easy-to-understand sermon gives you a chance to rethink your mental attitude. The reception desk opens 10 minutes before the start of the sermon, so it is best to visit well in advance.

Take a break from your normal routine and refresh yourself.
