It is a quintessential example of Kyoto\u2019s scenery and is frequently used as a filming location for other works, such as *Detective Conan: The Scarlet Love Song*.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its official name is \u201cRei\u014dzan H\u014dkan Zen-ji,\u201d and it is a temple of the Kennin-ji branch of the Rinzai school. According to temple tradition, it was founded by Prince Sh\u014dtoku in the 5th year of Emperor Sujun\u2019s reign (592), and the current five-story pagoda was rebuilt in the 12th year of the Eiky\u014d era (1440) by Ashikaga Yoshikazu, the 6th shogun of the Muromachi shogunate. The \u201cSenbon Torii\u201d\u2014a row of countless vermilion torii gates\u2014is one of Kyoto\u2019s most iconic sights and has been used as a filming location for numerous movies, anime, and TV dramas from both Japan and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is said to have been founded in the 4th year of the Wad\u014d era (711), and is believed to have originated when members of the Hata clan\u2014a clan of immigrant descent\u2014enshrined the Great God of Inari on Mount Inari. It is the head shrine of the approximately 30,000 Inari shrines said to exist nationwide. Known for bestowing blessings such as prosperity in business, bountiful harvests, and household safety, it boasts a history of over 1,300 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entire Inariyama Mountain is considered sacred ground, and visiting the shrine is free and open to the public all day. A round-trip walk from the Romon Gate through the Main Hall to the entrance of the Senbon Torii (Thousand Torii Gates) takes about 30 to 40 minutes; if you continue past the torii gates to the \u201cOkusha Worship Area,\u201d it takes about an hour. If you plan to take on the \u201cOyama Meguri\u201d hike to the summit of Mt.
