There are many tourist spots in Kyoto, but perhaps some of you would like to get away from the hustle and bustle every now and then…
If you enjoy sightseeing in Kyoto but don’t like crowded places, I recommend taking a break at “Kaze to Coffee,” a shop with a retro atmosphere.
It's located in Kamishichiken, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, on a backstreet that's easy to miss at first glance, and its tranquil atmosphere is particularly striking.
So, in this post, I’d like to introduce a shop called “Kaze to Coffee,” which is a great place to stop by for a break or a breather while sightseeing.
■ What is “Wind and Coffee”?
"Kaze to Coffee," located just a short distance from Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
It is located in Kamishichiken, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, and is about an 11-minute walk from the nearest station.
This coffee shop opened in January 2022 and is affectionately known locally as “Kazeko.”
It has a reputation for serving authentic, delicious coffee, and you can enjoy that authentic flavor at this in-house roastery.
Also, even though it’s a relatively new store, it has a calm, retro Showa-era atmosphere.
That's because it was originally an old café, and they're using it just as it is.
I love the retro vibe it gives off.
The café features counter seating where you can enjoy the aroma of coffee up close, as well as counter and table seating by the window. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee while gazing out the window, or to stop by with family or friends for a break.
It’s easy to miss, but there’s a large room in the back of the shop where you can also enjoy a cup of coffee.
■ How about some coffee at “Kaze to Coffee”?
At "Kaze to Coffee," you can enjoy authentic coffee roasted in-house.
There are many coffees that even people who aren’t big on coffee find so delicious that they keep coming back for more—coffees that let you enjoy not only the taste but also the aroma.
You'll be able to enjoy the flavors and aromas of famous coffees from around the world with all five senses.
You can also enjoy light meals and desserts to go with our house-roasted coffee.
Even though these aren’t from a specialty tea shop—such as sandwiches, matcha-hojicha fresh chocolate tarts, and hojicha cheesecake—be sure to try these flavors that capture the essence of Kyoto.

So, what do the reviews from people who have actually visited say?
