Kyoto is a sightseeing spot with shrines and temples that are crowded with tourists every day.
However, "mountain climbing" to enjoy Kyoto's nature away from such hustle and bustle is also surprisingly popular.

Having said that,
I wonder if there are any mountains for beginners that can be climbed while filming.
...Is there a place where I can take my elementary school child?
I want a mountain where I can easily reach the top.
Many people would like to enjoy Kyoto's nature and climb mountains easily.

Therefore, we would like to introduce some of the recommended climbing locations in Kyoto for a relaxing hike.

Kurama (Mt. Kurama), an easy-to-get-to mountain climbing spot in Kyoto.

○Features

At 569 meters above sea level, Mt. Kurama is relatively easy to climb without strenuous mountain paths.
Recommended as a low mountain climbing spot, it is a popular place for hiking while sightseeing in Kyoto.
On the way to Kuramadera Temple, there is a long stone staircase and many trees on both sides of the path, offering beautiful views of fresh greenery in summer and autumn leaves in fall.
Kurama is a place of mystical atmosphere, and is associated with Kurama Tengu and Ushiwakamaru.
Since there are not many ups and downs, serious hiking shoes are not required, and it is recommended for families to climb together for sightseeing in Kyoto.
There is also a cable car on the way, so you can enjoy a relaxing climb up the mountain.

Kurama, where there are rumors of that Ushiwakamaru and Tengu. It was a mysterious place. The scenery along the way was beautiful.
If you go during the foliage season, you could see many very beautiful vermilion leaves. You can enjoy both the scenery and hiking.
It is a fun hike of less than 2 km.
Hiking in Kurama-yama with your family. You can taste the atmosphere of Kyoto. It was fun.
The view was nice, but it might be a little tough to go up there in heels. The second time I climbed the mountain, I would wear sneakers.

Hieizan (Mt. Hiei), an easy-to-get-to mountain climbing spot in Kyoto

○Features

Hieizan" has two peaks, Ohhiei (848.3 m above sea level) located on the border of the prefecture and Shimeidake (838 m above sea level) located in Sakyo Ward.
Stretching from Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture to Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Mount Hiei is topped by the World Heritage-listed Enryakuji Temple.
There are several routes to the summit, including entry from the Kyoto Prefecture side and from the Shiga Prefecture river, all of which offer views of seasonal flowers and plants.
It is one of the easier mountains to climb, with ropeways and cable cars available.

Hieizan offers a view of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture when you come near the top of the mountain, Enryaku-ji Temple and numerous other attractions such as natural scenery and halls in the mountains.
At the top of the mountain, there is a garden museum and an observation tower, which we hope you will visit.

It was a beautiful mountain. It was 760 meters above sea level and has been famous for climbing for a long time, so it was a wonderful memory.
The scenery was good as it was designated as a national scenic spot. The great nature was breathtaking.
I am not used to climbing so much, but it was relatively easy for me to climb. I would like to come back.
The idea of mountain climbing in the great outdoors is very meaningful to me. I can feel the atmosphere of the mountain close to me.
It was less than 1000m, so it was easy to climb and the air was good.

Pom-Pom Mountain: 3 easy-to-get-to mountain climbing spots in Kyoto

○Features

Pom-Pom Mountain is located on the Sakai between Takatsuki City, Osaka Prefecture and Saikyo Ward, Kyoto Prefecture.
At an elevation of 679 meters, the ascent begins at Zempo-ji Temple, where the hall is located.
As it gets higher, it offers a panoramic view of Kyoto and Takatsuki City.
Also, as the origin of its name, the mountain is called Pom-Pom Mountain because of the mysterious "pom-pom" sound it makes when you jump near its summit.
Please try to jump when you climb to the top.

○Word of mouth

Hiking with children. You can go if you are an elementary school kid. They were happy to jump.
It was interesting to hear the clomping sound as we neared the summit.
Pom Pom Mountain is a favorite among locals. It is an easy-to-climb mountain for beginners.
. The mountain is located on the border between Takatsuki City in Osaka Prefecture and Kyoto City in Kyoto Prefecture. It has a cute name but can be climbed on a solid hiking course.
It is a small mountain, but the scenery is wonderful. I recommend going during the fall foliage season.

Daimonji Mountain (Mt. Daimonji), an easy-to-get-to mountain climbing spot in Kyoto

○Features

Daimonji, famous for the "Gozan no Okuribi" (Bonfire on Five Mountains).
This one is 466 meters above sea level and can be climbed in about one hour.
Although the elevation is low, the spectacular view from the summit will give you a sense of accomplishment.
There are many souvenirs and other items on the Ginkakuji Temple Road, and it is recommended to stop there before climbing.
If you go during the bonfire in August, you can also see the fire bed that ignites the Chinese character for "big," so it would be nice to visit during this time as well.

○Word of mouth

I would recommend it for an adult hiking trail. It was great and scenic.
The trailhead is located next to the Ginkakuji temple and is quite steep. However, it took us about 45 minutes to reach the place where the Gozan no Okuribi (Bonfire of the Five Mountains) is located.
The mountain is surrounded by magnificent nature and is full of trees and nature.
I climbed Mt. The mountain is famous for the Gozan Bonfire, a summer tradition in Kyoto, and was very powerful.
It was not easy with the kids, but the sense of accomplishment after the climb was great. But the sense of accomplishment after the climb was great.

Inari Mountain, an easy-to-get-to mountain climbing spot in Kyoto.

○Features

Inari," at an elevation of 233 meters.
It can be climbed from the precincts of Fushimi Inari Taisha, famous for its Senbon-torii, and is a hiking course of about 4 km.
There are numerous spots with spectacular views as you climb, and you can admire the scenery that is typical of Kyoto.
There is a long flight of stone stairs, but there are not many ups and downs, and there is a restaurant at Yotsuji Street, so you can take a break along the way.
Night hikes are also available, so you can enjoy a different atmosphere at night.

It was a slow climb at about -4 km. We enjoyed the scenery, eating, walking...it was fun.
There are rest areas so you can enjoy hiking while sightseeing in Kyoto.
I was most impressed by the many torii gates. It is recommended to go there after properly equipped for mountain climbing.
We ate inari sushi and soft-serve ice cream along the way. It is great to be able to eat while climbing a mountain.
I thought it would be easy at 233 meters, but it was a lot of work! But it was a very beautiful view.
