■Japanese Cafe Ki no Oto

Japanese Cafe Ki no Oto is located on the fourth floor of a building not far from the Shijo Kawaramachi intersection.
Despite being in the middle of the city, it is hard to hear the sound of car engines, making it possible to relax and forget about the hustle and bustle.
In addition to bringing in Japanese tea from Uji, the fruits and azuki beans used in our sweets come from contract farmers throughout Japan, making us particular about the ingredients we use.

The Zenzai lineup includes a simple one with square white rice cakes and a colorful one with pink, green, and other colorful white rice balls.
Made with azuki beans from Tokachi, Hokkaido, each sip is full of a rich sweetness.
Shaved ice, parfaits, drinks, and rice are also available.
The shaved ice and parfaits, in particular, are available in a variety of seasonal menus, so you can enjoy them no matter how many times you visit.
Rice is served with soup and obanzai, and visiting for lunch is also recommended.

■Arashiyama Village

Arashiyama Mura is located near Arashiyama Station on the Keifuku Electric Railway.
Located a short distance back from the main street, the entrance is marked by a pure white wall with the name of the restaurant written in a brush-like design.
Window seats offer a view of a small garden.

Zenzai is available with orthodox red bean paste or with thin tea instead of red bean paste.
Zenzai with red bean paste is a classic with a square white rice cake floating on top.
Usucha zenzai is made with shiratama (white bean curd) and anko (red bean paste). The bitterness of the thin tea and the sweetness of the red bean paste match each other, and you will soon finish it.

If you visit at lunchtime, try Saga no Negiyaki, a specialty of Arashiyama no Mura.
This Kyoto-style okonomiyaki has a fluffy thin crust and is filled with kujo leeks, minced beef, konnyaku, chikuwa, and other ingredients.
