Originally located on Shichijo Dori, Rengeji Temple is a Tendai sect temple that was rebuilt in 1662 by Chikayoshi Imaeda in its present location to honor his father's memory.

Today, Rengeji Temple is located in Sakyo Ward, where you can have matcha green tea.
Visitors can enter the reception area by passing through the gate and proceeding along the cobblestone path, but the natural beauty of the changing seasons up to that point is fascinating.

I visited Rengeji Temple together with Ruriko-in Temple. It was a nice place with a relaxing atmosphere.
I had a cup of powdered green tea. The lotus-shaped stone lantern was an unusual shape.

2. Chorakuji Temple, where you can drink green powdered tea in Kyoto

Choraku-ji Temple was built in 805 by Dengyo Daishi Saicho, who received an imperial order from Emperor Kanmu, as an alias of Enryaku-ji Temple.
The temple is mentioned in the Tale of the Heike and the Tale of Ancient and Modern, and has become popular for its secluded atmosphere and autumn foliage.
If you go further back from the sound of children's voices in Maruyama Park, you will feel as if you are in another world.

3. Byodoin Temple where you can drink green tea in Kyoto

Byodoin Temple was built by Heian aristocrats and is a World Heritage sightseeing spot.
The Phoenix Hall, which is depicted on the 10-yen coin, is a highlight, but the wisteria flowers are also very famous.
You can taste authentic Uji matcha at Byodoin, so please stop by.

Unryuin is famous for its fresh greenery in summer and autumn leaves in fall.
Matcha can be enjoyed in five rooms surrounding the garden, and the natural scenery from every room is a highlight.
Matcha can be served in five different rooms located around the garden.
At Unryuin, you will be soothed by the serenity of the "Shikigami no keshiki," where you can see four different views through the yukimi-shoji, or sliding shoji.
You can choose from five favorite places to enjoy matcha green tea, and the fresh sweets you taste are irresistible.
Please relax and enjoy viewing the running statue of Daikokuten and the stone lanterns donated by Yoshinobu Tokugawa.

○Features

Entokuin Temple is located in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, and is a temple of the Kenninji School of Rinzai Zen Buddhism.
It was built in 1632 and is famous as the place where Kitamasasho Nene, wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, spent the rest of her life.
Other highlights of Entokuin include the sliding door paintings by Hasegawa Tohaku and the front garden of Fushimi Castle, designated as a national place of scenic beauty.
The autumn leaves are beautiful and you can have green tea in a small tea room.
Please visit Entokuin not only for green tea, but also for the Zen temple experience.

The matcha tea at the place where Nene spent her last days is very special. The old tea house gave me a sense of Kyoto-like atmosphere.
