1.Picture book store Kindaarando

Picture Book Store Kindaarando was established in 1985 in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto.
This small picture book store is located in a residential area near Heian Shrine and the Art Museum.
The concept is "picture books and reading materials to be read at home," and the store offers a variety of picture books, including world classics.
Once a month, we hold "Kindaarando club activities" where people who love picture books gather to exchange information and discuss picture books.
On the 3rd floor, there is "Donguri Hiroba" where parents and children can play freely, with children from infants to about 3 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Located in the Omiya shopping arcade, you can read about 600 picture books with a cup of coffee.

The manager is a certified picture book selector and may be able to give you detailed information about picture books.
The café offers a wide variety of Western-style dishes such as curry and omelette rice, as well as sweets, allowing visitors to relax and immerse themselves in the world of picture books.
Some dishes are designed by "The Hungry Caterpillar" from the picture book, and are sure to be enjoyed by adults as well.

3. Merry-Go-Round Kyoto

Merry-Go-Round Kyoto" is located in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City.
This place opened in 2007 as the Kyoto branch of Merry-Go-Round in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture.
Specializing in children's books, the store has more than 4,000 picture books and bookshelves that are so tightly packed together that you will never get tired of visiting again and again.
In the next room, there is a gallery where exhibitions of various picture book authors are held.
